Welcome To St. Alban's
Welcome to join us in worship every Sunday, or during the special times we offer a weekday service. Worship is an important activity; it is a time when we are fed in ways prayer or meditation alone can’t feed us. To worship means to enter space and time that is sacred, set apart only for our interaction with God. For us, receiving Holy Communion is the most important way we are fed by God, and given strength for the work God has given us to do in the world. In the Episcopal Church, all baptized Christians are invited to receive Holy Communion, even if you are active in another denomination. You are welcome at our Table. Welcome to check out the programs we offer for all those who are searching for a deeper, more meaningful and relevant connection with God. There is a quote that goes: “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be lighted.” We aren’t striving to provide information for information’s sake, rather at St. Alban’s our programs are meant to inspire our growth as Christians using tools like scholarship, archeology, history, as well as those of storytelling, reflection, and personal experience. We don’t ignore the gifts of intellect and reasoning, which are gifts given to us from God; instead we use them to help enhance our understanding of what it means to be a follower of Jesus in our world today. You are welcome to grow with us. Welcome to pray with us. Prayer is something that should be part of every Christian’s daily life. Prayer isn’t static, it is something that is always growing and affecting our lives. I like to think of prayer as being part of a continual conversation with God, one where we are not only talking to God, but listening and responding to God. You are welcome to join the conversation. . Welcome to participate in our activities, events, fundraisers. We enjoy our relationships with each other, and like to have fun together. Growing relationships is a way to grow closer to God. Our times together are fun and serve as opportunities to include others in our fellowship. Everyone is welcome to share our fun. Welcome to help us reach out to others. Service to our community and that of the world is important to us. St. Alban’s is an active supporter of the Sussex Area Outreach Services (SOS) and the food panty. We understand the rising cost of living and the increasing need of people around the world; so we are open to special needs as they present themselves. Giving isn’t just about writing checks, it is also about sharing your time to visit the lonely or ill, helping spread awareness by word of mouth, or donating a skill to help raise funds. You are welcome to give your time, energy, talent, or treasure to help others. Welcome to join the Mission. Here at St. Alban’s we value our colorful history as we live in our energetic and active present and look with hope to our promising future as we live our mission. We have long been a parish that has looked for ways to be modern day disciples: baptizing, teaching, and sharing our faith with the community and the world. (Matt. 28:19-20) Today we continue to strive to do this through worship, formation opportunities, outreach, and serving one another in joy. We want everyone to know that no matter who you are: your age, gender, racial background, economic situation, or marital status God has a deep and abiding interest and love for you. Because of this, God also has a plan for you and work for you to do, but you won’t know what that work is if you aren’t in relationship with God. You are welcome to discover this and live the Mission with us. St. Alban’s Episcopal Church Welcomes You! - The Rev. Deborah Woolsey Mother Deborah is honored to be St. Alban’s 28th Rector.
